This institute aims to provide a comprehensive education that combines theoretical learning with practical, real-world experience across various facets of the Fashion and Interior Design sectors. Its goal is to equip students with a profound understanding of how design, technology, production, and business intersect and influence each other.

A full fledged Institute for Fashion Technology and Design

In recognition of the abundant employment opportunities available in the fashion and related industries for young people, a one-year Diploma Course in Fashion Technology and Interior Design was launched in 2007. Building upon this initiative, a dedicated Institute for Fashion Technology and Design was established during the academic year 2013-2014.

 

Mission & Vision

The Mission of the New Delhi YMCA is to assist, guide and empower members and staff to accomplish the aims and objectives of the YMCA as enshrined in its Constitution, to ensure continuing relevance, and to help build a better DELHI, emphasizing the members commitment to Lord Jesus Christ, His Life, Teachings and Mission, towards extending God’s Kingdom where Peace and justice shall prevail. To achieve these, the Members shall involve themselves in activities and programmes that will enhance the quality of Life and human dignity, encouraging Christian and high ethical standards and creating harmony and mutual trust to advance the endeavour to help establishing a civil society.

Interior Designing

There exists a nationwide surge in new construction projects for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, creating a high demand for professionals to oversee these developments. Architects, interior designers, landscapists, and other specialists are now highly sought after. We have developed meticulously planned courses and modules for aspiring interior designers. Our program not only enhances their design skills but also familiarizes them with architectural codes, graphical communication, and space planning, and detailed design concepts.

Teaching methodologies

Teaching methodologies like PowerPoint presentations, case studies, reports, sheets, and mood boards are integral to skill enhancement, fostering holistic development in students. As a practically applied course, our students engage in industrial and site visits, and conduct market surveys to stay updated with the latest trends. The increasing demand for well-defined spaces that enhance lifestyle, despite decreasing living space, necessitates meticulous planning and utilization.

Our Short Term Foundational Course in Interior Design equips participants—whether professional or not—to effectively explore spaces with both functional and aesthetic considerations. In this short duration, you will learn essential space planning rules that align furnishings and furniture, enhancing both the ambiance and revenue potential of premises. For professionals, this course creates numerous placement opportunities in the industry.

Fashion Designing

Fashion Designing is the art of the application of design and aesthetics of natural beauty to clothing and accessories. The learners of Fashion Designing attempt to design cloths which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. With the internet and social media invading everyday lives, fashion has become a global phenomenon; constantly changing and evolving.

Teaching methodologies

The well-integrated multi-disciplinary curriculum infuses an in depth knowledge and learning of design, fashion theory, liberal arts, surface development, garment engineering, merchandising and information technology. The students study sewing, draping and pattern making as well as drawing, digital & print design.

Thus, arming you with a deeper understanding of the relationship between design, technology, production and business.

A special emphasis on design concepts complement technical skills and provide students with an overview of fashion design globally. The YMCA gives their students a platform to showcase their designs in the annual fashion show as successful designers. It also provides various short-term courses which help students to open their own fashion studio and become Freelance Fashion Designers.

Awards & Honors

Ms. Mallika Batra

Ms. Mallika Batra, student of Advance Fashion Designing of YMCA was selected to show case her design collection in 'ASIAN DESIGNER WEEK' in November, 2017. Her garment collection was inspired by Budha Paintings and won a lot of appreciation among the designers.

Megha Chaudhary

Megha Chaudhary of Fashion Design course won second prize of Rs.25,000/- in Khadi Ambassador Competition under khadi Adi Sangam 2018.
